Sustainable Development Board Advisory Group

The Sustainable Development Board has established an Advisory Group to act as a link with sustainable development practitioners throughout the region. Its purpose is to support the Sustainable Development Board, promote sustainable development principles in the region and provide a forum for practitioners to share information, experience and funding opportunities.

Together the Sustainable Development Board and its Advisory Group constitute the region's Sustainable Development Round Table. The key tasks for the Advisory Group are to:

  • Support the Sustainable Development Board by providing information on regional sustainable development issues and how to tackle them
  • Facilitate sharing and disseminating good practice on sustainable development policy, appraisal and practice
  • Work with other regional groups and networks to identify policy changes, ways of working or projects that will improve regional and local delivery of sustainable development

The Sustainable Development Board is keen to see as wide a representation possible from sustainable development practitioners. The establishment of the network has facilitated greater involvement and support for the region's sustainable development priorities. It enables members to: feed in to the work of the Sustainable Development Board; disseminate good practice; participate in training events and seminars; and engage in web-based discussions on key policy issues such as consultation responses.

A number of activities have already taken place including workshops on Ecological Footprinting, use of REAP (Resources and Energy Analysis Programme) and Building a Greener Future.

An event, on 14 June 2007 included a presentation from UK Climate Impacts Programme representatives on the forthcoming UKCIP08 scenarios. You can download the presentations from this meeting below.
