Energy White Paper

The new Energy White Paper, 'Meeting the Energy Challenge' was released by the Government in May 2007. It builds on the commitments of the 2003 Energy White Paper, but places firmer emphasis on climate change and energy security, as well as changes to the planning system to facilitate improvements to energy infrastructure. A major focus of the White Paper is on saving energy. In households and across the public and private sectors, the Government is seeking to make significant reductions in energy demand through a range of efficiency measures.

More information, including the White Paper itself, is available from the Government's Department for the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.

A summary of the White Paper has been produced by the Assembly for information. You can download this below.
