The Future of Sustainable Development
Yorkshire and Humber is currently considering how best to implement the reforms set out in the Sub-National Review of Economic Regeneration and Development (SNR). A key part of this process is the need to properly represent and integrate sustainable development principles within the emerging Single Integrated Regional Strategy and develop proposals that will deliver a credible, effective and independent SD Champion Body
On 7 May 2008, DEFRA announced funding to support regions in undertaking this activity. A bid for this funding, submitted on behalf of the region by the Assembly, was formally approved by DEFRA in August 2008
This work will be led by the Assembly (as the designated accountable body) and overseen by a Steering Group comprising the Assembly, the Yorkshire and Humber Sustainable Development Board, Yorkshire Forward, Government Office for Yorkshire and the Humber, Environment Agency and Local Government Yorkshire and Humber.

How you can have your say....
Throughout January the region will be considering how we can make Sustainable Development an integral part of the new regional structures and the Single Integrated Regional Strategy. As part of this work, all interested organisations are invited to complete a quick and easy online consultation questionnaire and/or attend an event to discuss and debate the emerging findings.
