Role of Yorkshire Forward

Yorkshire Forward was set up by Government to promote sustainable economic development throughout the Yorkshire and Humber region. One of England's nine Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) they are a business led organisation that aims to help improve the region’s relative economic performance and reduce social and economic disparities. Yorkshire Forward are charged with improving the Yorkshire and Humber economy. Yorkshire Forward aims to drive the success of the region by providing the region with more jobs, opening access to new markets for businesses and by regenerating our town and city centres.

To achieve the vision, Yorkshire Forward has three aims that the region as a whole must deliver, and around which the whole Regional Economic Strategy has been structured:

• Enhancing and realising the potential of all Yorkshire and Humber’s people to achieve a healthy learning region and social inclusion
• Growing existing and new businesses to achieve high and stable levels of economic growth and jobs
• Utilising the full potential of Yorkshire and Humber’s physical and cultural assets, maximising resource efficiency and conserving and enhancing its environment to achieve an integrated, sustainable economy.
  

What is the Regional Economic Strategy (RES)?
