The Yorkshire and Humber Assembly

Migration

Migration is a key driver of household change and an important consideration when planning for future housing development. We need to understand internal and international migration in this Region in order to plan effectively for economic and housing growth.

In 2007 The Yorkshire and Humber Assembly commissioned Edge Analytics, an independent research consultancy based at the University of Leeds, to compile a report looking at migration in the Region. The report informed the Assembly's response to the Proposed Changes to the adopted RSS. The final report of this work and an executive summary can be downloaded below.

The Assembly has commissioned Edge Analytics to refresh the 2007 study to form part of the RSS evidence base. The brief for this work and the final report can be downloaded below.

The report looks at changes in migration trends, the drivers behind these changes and potential future scenarios for migration patterns and household numbers. Information is available for the Region as a whole as well as each local authority, the four sub-regions and Leeds City Region.
