The Yorkshire and Humber Assembly

Developing the Region's Evidence Base

In February 2008 the Yorkshire and Humber Assembly appointed Halcrow to assist in the gathering of strategic data sets for use within the Assembly’s Geographic Information System (GIS) Program. The data sets to be gathered (and subsequently assembled) represent key constraints to delivering additional growth and development within the Region.

Over the course of the next two months, Halcrow contacted various agencies and local authorities and assembled these data sets. As a result of this work the Assembly now has an up-to-date library of various data sets as well as key contacts to ensure that updates are undertaken.

One of the final elements of the work was developing a series of maps for inclusion in a booklet. This booklet highlights the work that was undertaken and paints a picture of the numerous constraints to development within the Region. Taken collectively these constraints will need to be considered when considering new areas of growth and development through the partial review of the Regional Spatial Strategy.

The map booklet can be downloaded below. Due to its large size it has been split into four documents.
