Local Development Framework Policy Implications

Mapping Policy Implications of LDF Core Strategies

In February 2008 the Yorkshire and Humber Assembly commissioned NLP to undertake a strategic level review of emerging Local Development Framework (LDF) Core Strategies in the Yorkshire and Humber Region. The purpose was to collect and identify information that will help to evaluate the current policy approach in each of the Sub-Areas of the emerging Regional Spatial Strategy (The Yorkshire and Humber Plan) as well as contribute to the evidence base for the review of the RSS (as set out in the Government’s Housing Green paper).

The study focused on each of the Local Planning Area’s ability to accommodate growth as set out in emerging LDF Core Strategies. Each Core Strategy was analysed utilising GIS and assessments were undertaken as to how the relevant RSS Sub-Area approach was being interpreted and implemented.

NLP produced a discussion report identifying the findings. A comprehensive spreadsheet table was also produced, summarising these key findings. This table was used to produce a series of maps, which visualise the outputs. All of these documents were developed in a manner that will allow the report to be updated as the Core Strategies in the Region are developed.

The study report is available to download below.
