Yorkshire and Humber Assembly

The Yorkshire and Humber Assembly is the current Regional Planning Body for the Yorkshire and Humber Region.

Its main responsibilities and functions are:

  • Provide regional leadership
  • Agree strategic priorities
  • Prepares the Integrated Regional Framework in partnership
  • Prepare, monitor and review the Yorkshire and Humber Plan
  • Ensure Development Plans are in conformity with the Yorkshire and Humber Plan

The Assemblies main mechanisms to help deliver the outcomes set out in the Yorkshire and Humber Plan are:

  • The YH Plan (RSS) is part of the Statutory Development Plan for local authorities in the region. Therefore: it is a material consideration when determining planning applications; and the Assembly has a duty to assess Local Authorities’ Local Development Frameworks as they are prepared to ensure “general conformity” with the Yorkshire and Humber Plan
  • The Assembly’s Housing Delivery role through Regional Housing Board
  • The Assembly’s Transport Delivery role through Regional Transport Board

  • Capacity Building
