Affordable Warmth Action Plan

In September 2006 the Regional Affordable Warmth Action Plan was launched. This plan has been developed to:

• Provide a baseline position of fuel poverty in the region;
• Measure progress across the region;
• Identify current gaps in provision; and
• Seek to co-ordinate and direct resources to areas of acute fuel poverty.

The objectives of the plan have been divided into five themes, which detail many actions. The theme headings are:

• Influencing Affordable Warmth Policy, Strategy, Funding and Delivery in the Region.
• Training and awareness raising.
• Supporting local affordable warmth work.
• Improving Health and Well-being.
• Monitoring and evaluating the action plan.

Many regional and local partners have contributed to the development of the regional Action Plan, which was led by Government Office and the Action Plan has been very well received. Many agencies and partners are supportive of its aim and are committed in taking this work forward.
