The Yorkshire and Humber Assembly
ERDF Budget
The European Union has allocated approximately €9.4 billion to the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) programme in the United Kingdom for the seven year period of 2007 to 2013.
This budget has been divided, and each of the English regions has been allocated a budget in Euros. The Yorkshire and Humber region has been allocated a total of €524 million. Due to its previous Objective 1 status, South Yorkshire is regarded as a ‘phasing-in region’ and has its own ring-fenced budget. The table below shows how much of the budget will be spent in South Yorkshire and how much will be spent in the other three sub-regions. For illustration purposes, the equivalent amount in pounds sterling is given based on the current exchange rate.
| Area | Euros (€) | Pounds Sterling (£) * based on an exchange rate of 0.678 |
|---|---|---|
| South Yorkshire | €247 million | £167.5 million |
| Rest of the Region | €277 million | £187.8 million |
| TOTAL | €524 million | £355.3 million |
