Budget and finances
There are two main streams of income: Government funding to carry out specific duties, including regional planning and scrutiny, and subscriptions from local authorities. There are also some dedicated grants for undertaking specific pieces of work.
The budget for 2008/09 is £2.702million. This is made up of £2.182m from central government, £222k from local authority subscriptions and £298k from other grants, bank interest etc.

Members' allowances
At the Assembly’s Annual General Meeting in July 2006, a revised allowances scheme for members was agreed. Members holding these posts are entitled to receive the following amounts:
Chair of the Assembly: £8000
Deputy Chair of the Assembly: £6400
Chairs of the Planning, Housing, Transport and Sustainable Development Boards: £4000
Other Regional Executive Board members (representatives of the sub-regions, city regions, social economic and environmental partners, rural authorities and Local Government Yorkshire and Humber): £1600.
In addition, all Assembly members are entitled to claim for care of dependants when working on Assembly business through a Dependant Carers Allowance. Assembly members are also entitled to claim subsistence and travel allowances when they are representing the Assembly on corporate business. These allowances are in line with local government terms and conditions.
